    SIX MONTHS OR MORE AHEAD:

    • Arrange for families to meet

    • Select a wedding officiant and schedule premarital counseling sessions

    • Buy a comprehensive wedding planner, organizer, or computer program

    • Start a journal to record your day to day activities, thoughts, and feelings

    • Announce engagement in local papers

    • Decide style of wedding

    • Set budget and establish priorities--you may want to consider a separate bank account to help keep track of spending

    • Select a date--have alternate dates in order to coordinate availability of site, officiant, or vendors of choice

    • Choose and reserve :

      • Rehearsal/wedding/reception site

      confirm any policies concerning time restrictions, decor, photography; make necessary parking arrangements

      • Wedding consultant

      the professional advice and access that a consultant offers can help save money and time

      • Photographer
      • Caterer/cake maker
      • Florist
      • Videographer
      • Band/DJ/ceremony musicians
      • Rental equipment (tents, tables, chairs)
      • Transportation
      • Hair Stylist/Makeup artist
    • Select wedding director  -

    select someone that has experience in directing weddings and whose personality is happy while firm and confident

    • Choose attendants

    • Choose dress and accessories

    • Plan honeymoon

    • Consider wedding/honeymoon insurance

    • Compile guest list

    FOUR TO SIX MONTHS AHEAD:

    • Register gifts

    • Order invitations, thank-you notes, napkins

    • Book Calligrapher

    • Select and purchase bride’s attendants attire including accessories

    • Purchase or reserve groom’s, groomsmen’s and fathers’ attire including accessories

    • Purchase wedding rings

    • Choose/make/order favors

    • Make/purchase gifts for wedding party

    • Consider hospitality baskets for out-of-town guests

    • Reserve accommodations for out-of-town guests

    TWO TO FOUR MONTHS AHEAD:

    • Discuss details with wedding vendors, provide detailed contact information, final time schedule, and directions to the sites

    • Choose/purchase décor not provided by site/vendors

    • Discuss service with officiant – if writing your own vows, do it now

    • Select readers if needed and get material to them for review

    • Have final dress fitting

    • Try out hairstyles with headpiece

    • Do a trial run of makeup

    • Have bridal portrait made

    ONE TO TWO MONTHS AHEAD

    • Finalize the wedding day schedule – include all details including events at reception

    • Confirm details with all vendors

    • Purchase guest book

    • Have programs printed

    • Mail invitations

    • Send wedding announcements to local papers

    • Send change-of-address information to post office

    • Write thank-you notes as you receive gifts

    • Review with each person in wedding party all important dates, instructions, and lodging/transportation arrangements

    • Provide maps or directions for out-of-town guests

    • Assign responsibilities to friends, family, and wedding party so that you won’t have any tasks to do on your wedding day
    • Research legalities concerning your marriage in your state

    • Obtain marriage license, usually from Clerk of Court in County seat where wedding will be held

    TWO WEEKS AHEAD

    • Arrange seating plan, write place cards

    • Secure persons for toasts, so they can prepare what to say

    • Break in wedding shoes at home

    ONE WEEK AHEAD

    • Pack for honeymoon

    • Confirm travel arrangements

    • Confirm seating arrangement

    • Confirm transportation

    • Prepare an wedding day emergency kit including: hairspray, scissors, safety pins, sewing kit, tape

    ONE TO TWO DAYS AHEAD

    • Have a manicure and pedicure

    • Give each member of the wedding party a gift and personal note

    • Prepare/give notes/gifts to parents to thank them for them love and support

    WEDDING DAY

    • Be sure to have marriage license available

    • Remember to eat and drink

    • Allow plenty of time to be ready at least one hour prior to ceremony

    • Relax and enjoy every minute of your very special day. If things don’t go as planned, don’t worry. Let the day flow. Chances are that no one will even recognize that something isn’t exactly like you had planned it to be.
